Environmental Industry Associations Make Freight Discounts Available to WASTEC and NSWMA Membership

Washington, DC – In June, the Environmental Industry Associations (EIA) finalized an agreement with United Parcel Service (UPS) Freight to offer a 70 percent discount for freight shipments to anywhere in the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, and the U.S. Virgin Islands to National Solid Wastes Management Association (NSWMA) and the Waste Equipment Technology Association (WASTEC) members.

The UPS Freight Associations Program offers an integrated network of more than 200 facilities that provide regional, interregional, and long-haul options through more than 21,000 one and two-day lanes nationwide and 3 and 4-day transcontinental sleeper team service. Services are provided with one pick-up and are backed by a day-definite, on-time guarantee. UPS Freight also minimizes customs delays when shipping to and from Canada through customs-bonded facilities and complete on-line tracking.

In addition, from shipping to setup, the WASTEC-NSWMA/UPS Freight agreement offers trade show services at a significant discount.

“In addition to the advantages of discounted shipments, our members will benefit from the quarterly royalty that will be paid to the Associations,” said Gary Satterfield, Executive Vice President, WASTEC. “We are always looking at new ways to expand the benefits of trade association membership and increase our ability to fund other important services, such as WASTEC’s Market Statistics Program and our many subcommittees to develop American National Standards Institute (ANSI) safety recommendations.”

WASTEC and NSWMA members may take advantage of the UPS Freight Association program through the enrollment section located at www.wastec.org or www.nswma.org. Members fill out the appropriate fields and submit the request to UPS Freight, which generates an email and transmits it to UPS. UPS will perform the appropriate customer set-up and contact the member with information on the effective date of pricing. The member will then receive a welcome kit in the mail, containing information concerning UPS Freight services and a copy of their statement of agreed pricing.

Members who would like more information or a hard copy of the enrollment form, should contact Christine Hutcherson, NSWMA-WASTEC’s Director of Membership Services, at 800-424-2869 or chutcherson@envasns.org.
