EIA's Future Industry Leaders Alliance Announces 2012 Leadership
Will Strengthen Group's Opportunities for Management, Networking & Personal Development

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Future Industry Leaders Alliance (FILA), a group within the Environmental Industry Associations (EIA), recently announced its 2012 executive leadership committee. FILA's mission is to prepare managers and executives in the private solid waste industry for executive advancement by providing opportunities to improve and learn new business, financial, management and leadership skills; network with socialize with peers; and tour other members' facilities to gain operational insights. FILA also has a mentoring program in which selected members are paired with industry leaders.
EIA consists of two sub-associations: the National Solid Wastes Management Association (NSWMA) and the Waste Technology and Equipment Association (WASTEC). FILA members include members from NSWMA and WASTEC.
FILA's 2012 leadership team:
Pete Aardema, CO-Chair : Aardema grew up in the waste industry working in his family's hauling company in Chicago. For the past seven years he has served as operations manager at Land and Lakes Disposal in Matteson Illinois. He has been a FILA member since its inception.
Sean O'Brian, CO-Chair: O'Brian is the acting president of O’Brian Tarping Systems and the main sales arm for the company. He began his career with the company in 1994 and eventually designed, installed and sold tarping systems domestically and internationally
Seth Ellington, Treasurer: Ellington is the General Manager and Vice President of Operations at Big 'O' Refuse, based in Newark, Ohio. In addition to his work at Big 'O' Refuse, Ellington is involved in several community groups throughout central Ohio, including the Newark Rotary Club, Newark Area Jaycees, and NSWMA Ohio chapter.
Robert J. Mecchi II, Member at Large: Mecchi has been the Vice President of Business Development for Big Truck Rental, LLC, since September 2010. Prior to Big Truck Rental, Mecchi was President of Perkins Manufacturing. He is the current Chairman of the WASTEC Board of Governors.
FILA's Co-Chair, Sean O'Brian, welcomed his industry colleagues joining him on the executive leadership committee: "Pete, Seth and Robert bring a lot of energy and talent to the committee, and I am excited about working with them in 2012 to take FILA to the next level, increase membership and have fun in the process."
